In
most cases IOSLoaderPro properly determines
the ip address of the computer to be connected to the
cisco, but if it fails you can specify it manually.
Use the field "filesystem" to choose where
the new IOS should be installed.
Checkbox "Check if the new IOS image size suits the router" tells
the program to compare the amount of space on the router's flash and
the size of the new IOS image, and prevents you from uploading an invalid
image.
CheckBox "Restore files which were erased" tells the program
to put all the files backuped back to the router, after new IOS image
is uploaded.
CheckBox "Integrate new IOS into the configuration file" tells
the program to patch your running config, so it will boot the new IOS.
Enable CheckBox "Reload the router" if you want your router
to be reloaded after installation process. Be carefull the program will
copy the running-config to the startup-config.
We recommend your to keep all the checkboxes enabled.
All files will be backuped into the "Backup" folder which is
located in the IOSLoaderPro's directory.
When
everything seems to be configured, specify your cisco
ip address, remote and local user names and push the
start button.
You will gain all information you need about the installation process
from the statusbar located on the bottom of the program form.
First
of all the program backups your old IOS image and all
other files, including running-config and startup-config.
After that you are prompted to choose the new IOS image(which
you have downloaded from the cisco homepage). The program
checks if the new IOS suits your router. If it does,
the new IOS image is uploaded to the router. Then IOSLoaderPro restores
all the files, excluding the old IOS. Then it patchs
the running-config to set the router to boot the new
image. At the end it prompts you to reload the router
for the router to run the new Cisco IOS software image.
